Antes da pandemia, o turismo havia se tornado um dos principais setores socioecon\u00f4micos do mundo, com receitas de exporta\u00e7\u00e3o em 2019 no valor de US$ 1,7 trilh\u00e3o, equivalente a 28% do com\u00e9rcio global de servi\u00e7os e 7% das exporta\u00e7\u00f5es gerais de bens e servi\u00e7os.<\/p>\n<p>Entre os mais afetados estavam os pa\u00edses dependentes do turismo e os destinos tur\u00edsticos emergentes com menos recursos econ\u00f4micos e t\u00e9cnicos para responder \u00e0 crise: \u201cEm um setor que emprega 1 em cada 10 pessoas em todo o mundo, aproveitar a inova\u00e7\u00e3o e a digitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o, abra\u00e7ar os valores locais e criar empregos decentes para todos - especialmente para os jovens, women e os grupos mais vulner\u00e1veis de nossas sociedades - pode estar na vanguarda da recupera\u00e7\u00e3o do turismo\u201d, afirma o Secret\u00e1rio Geral da Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial do Turismo (OMT), Zurab Pololikashvili.<\/p>\n<p>Apesar de seu crescente apelo tur\u00edstico, poucos estudos analisaram a economia do turismo em destinos emergentes durante os est\u00e1gios iniciais de seu ciclo de vida, sendo que a literatura se concentra principalmente em destinos mais estabelecidos. Os destinos tur\u00edsticos emergentes t\u00eam um potencial significativo; no entanto, os formuladores de pol\u00edticas e os gerentes desses destinos ainda precisam fazer esfor\u00e7os consider\u00e1veis para transformar os ativos e as atra\u00e7\u00f5es culturais em produtos tur\u00edsticos atraentes que possam competir nos mercados globais.<\/p>\n<p>Para permitir que os destinos tur\u00edsticos emergentes deixem sua marca no mapa global, \u00e9 preciso tomar decis\u00f5es multilaterais. Primeiro, o conhecimento de sua marca \u00e9 menor do que o de destinos mais estabelecidos.<br \/>\nEm segundo lugar, eles geralmente t\u00eam infraestrutura limitada para acomodar grandes volumes de visitantes e menos experi\u00eancia em oferecer experi\u00eancias diferenciadas para atra\u00ed-los.<br \/>\nPor fim, eles geralmente n\u00e3o s\u00e3o muito vis\u00edveis no radar dos investidores regionais e internacionais e dos parceiros do setor.
