27th September 2023, China

On September 27, a CEO-to-CEO Breakfast on “AI & Data Transformation in China: It is about people!” was successfully held in Shanghai. Artefact APAC CEO, Edouard de Mézerac and L’Oréal China & North Asia CEO, Fabrice Megarbane came together to share their knowledge and experiences on corporations’ Data Transformation in the Generative AI era.

By taking the chance of this event, we offered key decision makers of multinational consumer companies in China insightful and actionable information on how to best accelerate their own digitalisation and AI implencation with multiple perspectives, particularly in Data & AI Talents Cultivation.

During the breakfast, Edouard and Fabrice covered a range of topics, including the different types of data and AI talents, how to balance the mix of data talents between those working on “value for business” and those focused on “foundations,” how to make business teams own the transformation, the level of autonomy of China data & digital teams vis a vis headquarters, different organisation models for data & digital teams, and how Generative AI is changing the game with new talents, new risks, and new ways of working.

Apart from Artefact‘s expertise in data consulting and GenAI use-cases shared by Edouard, Fabrice also shared the L’Oréal journey as best practices of a successful AI and data Transformation, providing insights into how to navigate the challenges that arise along the way. The experience sharing of success stories and lessons learning offer the audience invaluable guidance when initiating their own AI and data Transformation.

“We feel humbled of being part of the successful acceleration on data of L’Oréal in China. Along many others, we have put (and still are) putting a lot of effort and energy into it. The key to success, as shared in the discussion : very strong engagement of the CEO, clear vision and purpose, huge effort put on foundations, … and most importantly, at the end data is just at the service of the business. So it is all about creating this business pull.”
Edouard de Mézerac, CEO Artefact APAC

The event was a success with the attendance of nearly 30 China / Asia CEOs from well-known MNCs. It provided a unique opportunity for the audience to learn and benefit from the L’Oréal journey and Artefact’s expertise. During the panel and engagement session, all participants shared ideas with each other in a nice interactive vibe.
