Article I: Purpose
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aims to establish a comprehensive and strategic collaboration framework between Chungnam National University (CNU), Korea and Artefact, France to accelerate innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and digital transformation.
The objectives are to:
- Foster global joint research and industrial R&D cooperation in Al and data-driven innovation.
- Develop world-class Al talent through joint education and training initiatives.
- Co-develop Al commercialization ecosystems bridging academia, industry, and government.
- Pursue joint public and private projects with the Korean government, EU programs, and global partners to generate mutual economic and technological benefits.
Article II. Areas of Cooperation
The Parties agree to collaborate in the following specific areas:
1. AI Research and Industrial Cooperation
- Joint participation in Korean government AI R&D programs (e.g., MSIT, NIA, IITP, etc.) and EU/Global Al innovation frameworks.
- Co-development of applied Al solutions in Smart City, Healthcare, Retail, and Finance sectors.
2. Global Al Talent Development and Education
- Establishment of CNU-Artefact School of Data programs aligned with Artefact’s Paris-based School of Data curriculum.
- Faculty and expert exchange, Al bootcamps, and online certification programs.
- Collaboration on government-supported training programs such as K-Digital Training and Global Al Fellowship.
3. International Research & Development
- Joint exploration of EU-Korea collaborative research in generative Al, edge computing, and data governance.
- Co-authorship of academic publications and participation in global Al consortiums.
4. Al Commercialization Ecosystem and Industrialization
- Joint creation of Al innovation hubs and testbeds to accelerate commercialization of research outcomes.
- Collaboration with startups and enterprises to scale Al solutions.
- Promotion of international technology transfer and joint venture opportunities.
5. Joint Projects with Government and Industry
- Co-proposal and execution of national or bilateral Al projects with shared benefits and IP ownership to be agreed per project.
- Joint participation in international Al exhibitions and forums to enhance visibility and attract investment.
Article III. Implementation and Governance
- Both Parties shall designate a Joint Steering Committee composed of representatives from CNU and Artefact to define implementation roadmaps, review progress, and coordinate joint initiatives.
- Detailed project scopes, deliverables, funding structure, and IP ownership shall be stipulated in separate project-specific agreements.
- Annual strategic review meetings will be held alternately in Daejeon and Paris to evaluate progress and identify new opportunities.
Article IV. Duration
This MOU shall be valid for five (5) years from the date of signing and automatically renewed for successive five-year terms unless terminated by either Party with six (6) months’ written notice prior to expiration.
Article V. General Provisions
- Both Parties shall cooperate in good faith to achieve the objectives of this MOU.
- This MOU is non-binding but expresses the sincere intention of both institutions to develop and sustain a long-term strategic partnership.
- Any matters not specified herein shall be determined by mutual consultation.
