This Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Artefact’s Paris offices, a major milestone was reached in integrating cutting-edge technological expertise within the armed forces. Vincent Luciani, Co-founder and Executive President of Artefact, welcomed Brigadier General Antoine Bréart de Boisanger, Secretary General of the National Guard, to seal an official partnership aimed at structuring and accelerating the commitment of the technology operational reserve.
This agreement embodies a shared conviction: modern defense is also played out within the companies that design and deploy disruptive technologies. In front of an audience of Artefact employees and National Guard executives, Vincent Luciani delivered a speech on this strategic alliance.
Data and Decision Speed as Defense Challenges
The nature of threats now requires integrating cutting-edge technologies directly into the heart of operations. Vincent Luciani detailed three major technological developments:
- Operational superiority now depends on the performance of data processing algorithms. Analysis of recent conflicts shows, for example, that drones guided by terrain data analysis and image recognition are responsible for nearly 70% of casualties.
- At the same time, the challenge of decision support and reducing processing times has become identical for military staffs and the civilian sector, where AI can reduce the execution time of complex processes by a factor of 3 or 4.
- Finally, security in cyberspace is a permanent clash: in 2025, ANSSI (the Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d’information, responsible for national cyber defense and security) handled 1,400 major cyber incidents, a domain where AI serves both as an attack tool and a detection vector. The military is adapting its structures to this reality, much like the Army’s AI Factory or the Navy’s digital reserve.
Artefact’s 2026 Technological Roadmap
The partnership translates into a precise operational action plan:
- Defense Hackathons: Artefact will co-organize three hackathons during Adopt AI 2026 on robotics, quantum technologies, and the fight against disinformation, following a first edition on autonomous drones with the AID (Agence de l’innovation de défense, which funds and drives defense innovation).
- Technical Immersions: Technical teams will conduct field sessions at the 54th Signal Regiment (54e régiment de transmissions) in December, the 17th Artillery Regiment (17e régiment d’artillerie) in March, and the 13th Alpine Hunters Battalion (13e bataillon de chasseurs alpins) in July.
- Sovereign Tools: Artefact is collaborating with its clients to develop AI agents capable of automating end-to-end penetration tests to autonomously patch system vulnerabilities.
Funding Reservist Time and Skill Transfer
Maintaining the commitment of technological experts relies on a shared organizational model. Artefact supports a credit of days per year during business days (jours ouvrés) with maintained compensation. This setup ensures that the operational reserve does not encroach on personal time (weekends and paid time off), guaranteeing the long-term retention of experts.
By joining the reserve, Artefact employees acquire additional skills in applying technologies within highly complex, constrained environments, while aligning their civilian expertise with public interest and sovereignty issues.
